Résumé

Nna Fa, vieille kabyle en visite chez son médecin. Quoi de plus banal? Sauf que quand des circonstances particulières transforment le médecin en confident, Nna Fa déroule devant nous la trame de toute une vie faite de beaucoup d’amour mais aussi d’abnégation, de frustration et de révolte. Elle laisse libre cours à ses vérités sur la vie sociale en Kabylie, les hommes, les femmes et sur les « temps d’aujourd’hui ».Dans un tourbillon de répliques ou ` se mêlent le rire et les larmes, Nna Fa nous promène sur tout un éventail d’émotions. De la tendresse à la nostalgie du respect à l’admiration en passant par une peu de regret d’avoir manqué de temps avec nos vieilles parentes et d’avoir ainsi manqué d’engranger des moments précieux. Dans une politesse irréprochable, une langue authentique et merveilleuse, Nna Fa nous fait réaliser que nos grand-mères ont un regard sur la vie plus lucide que nous ne le pensons. Elle nous réconcilie avec une génération dont nous n’avons pas toujours saisi la mesure et nous fait entrevoir des trésors de sagesse et de lucidité que nous avons peut être sous estimés.Beaucoup de rire, de tendresse au rendez-vous. La langue de Nna Fa, nous emmène comme un tapis volant au cœur de la Kabylie, mais aussi, dans le plus long des voyages, au fond de nos cœurs de fils et de filles.

Summary

Nna Fa, an elderly Kabyle woman, is visiting her doctor. Could it be more boring? Not when circumstances turn her doctor into a confidant. She tells us about her life, full of sorrow, hidden rebellion, frustration but also moment of happiness and lot of love. She openly speaks of the social conditions in Kabylie: the men, the women the old time and nowadays. In a whirlwind of thoughts she combines laughter and tears, taking us on a tour of the emotions, from tenderness to nostalgia, from respect to admiration, with sometimes an after taste of guiltiness for all precious moments we have missed with our elderly parents. Precious moment we could have gathered as jewels, now lost for ever.Nna Fa speaks with elegance beyond question and the beauty of her language enables us to appreciate that our grandmothers held a much wiser outlook on life than we ever thought. She makes us realize how we didn’t always appreciate their understanding of life that could have taught us values and principals that would still help us cope with modern life. Na Fa makes us also realize that we have not always properly understood her generation, she reminds us of the treasures of wisdom and simplicity that we have most likely underestimated.The wonderful language of Nna Fa , as a magic carpet, takes us on a wonderful trip to the heart of Kabylie, but also in the most wonderfull trip for a human being: the depth of our hearts.
